Showcase your Artistic View

The Mayor's Star Council (MSC) has teamed up with DART and local Dallas artists on an unparalleled initiative - The Bus Stop Project - and we want you to join us. Together with our partners, MSC is creating the opportunity for artwork envisioned by local high school students to be showcased at select DART bus stops in Southern Dallas and throughout the city. Each unique installation reflects local history and the students' hopes and dreams for their community. Through our interactive curriculum, the students from Mayor's Rising Star Council spend hours talking, dreaming and visioning with local artists, who then turn their hopes for their neighborhood into an artistic representation that is displayed in the selected bus stop.

Each unique installation

  1. Encourages local DISD students through our Student Curriculum to envision and take ownership for the future of their communities.
  2. Highlights the history and culture of the neighborhood in Dallas the art is located in.
  3. Connects Northern & Southern Dallas and promotes a unified city.
  4. Incorporates the brand or logo of the sponsor along with our community partners.

Student curriculum

To create each unique Bus Stop Project art installation, the Mayor's Star Council and our team of artists and community partners lead students through a dynamic curriculum. We interactively engage students in the unique history and culture of Dallas neighborhoods while encouraging them to envision the future of their communities.

5 Key Components
  1. Bus Stop Project Introduction.
  2. Historical Education Lesson focusing on the particular location or neighborhood of the bus stop the students will help envision art for.
  3. Interactive Field Trip & Community Vision Brainstorming to gather thoughts, visuals, and ideas to be collected, posted, and discussed together.
  4. Break, Live Artist Drafting & Collection of Student Feedback.
  5. Student Vote on Final Bus Stop Art to be showcased at the bus stop.
Our students are the inspiration and final selectors for each and every installation in this citywide art project. While students uncover the local history and are encouraged toward civic engagement, they also gain exposure to other young role models active in Dallas' civic life as well as careers in the arts.

Ways to Engage: Want to Get Involved?
