Value of Transit Study

The DART Value of Transit Study was undertaken to understand what is important to riders, the general public, and key stakeholders. The study assesses the value of transit using a variety of qualitative and quantitative measures.

The information from the study can help leaders communicate the benefits of DART and, more importantly, set the stage for defining how we can work together to unlock DART’s full potential. As we discuss the evolving needs of the communities and people we serve, this input will allow DART to continue to add value and enhance the quality of life by aligning our efforts around a common vision and mutually beneficial outcomes.

City/DART Area Plans

DART has identified an opportunity to enhance collaboration with our city partners to identify and advance projects, programs, or services that can help both parties achieve their mutual goals. This collaboration will be done through the development of area plans for each of the 13 cities in the DART Service Area.

Plans will build upon key goals and actions in the DART Transit System Plan and the comprehensive, area, and/or strategic plans of the individual cities and will result in specific recommendations to advance within each city. Opportunities to leverage local City/DART funds through grants or other external sources will also be documented.

Area plans will be developed in two phases:

  • Phase 1 is an Area Plan Scoping effort, which is happening during 2023, that is focused on working with each city and DART staff to identify the key issues, opportunities, and policy/planning documents that will inform the next phase.
  • Phase 2 is Area Plan Development, which will occur during 2024.
